Over the years I’ve picked up a thorough and in-depth education concerning the mechanisms of the human body and functional body movement, with personal experience in various fitness, rehabilitation, and university facilities
I attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, where I received two degrees, one in kenesiology, and one in psychology, and also participated as a collegiate athlete. Later, I worked for several years as a personal trainer, educator, and caregiver in Austin, TX, eventually receiving my Master’s degree in Kinesiology – Exercise Science at the U of A.
My goal is to educate and empower people to better health and fitness by sharing knowledge, experience, and by instruction.
For the first 20 years of my life I was overweight and unfit, eventually weighing 250 lbs., with a 40″ waist and 32% body fat. I finally decided that it was time for a change, and to get my life back.
In no time at all I became addicted to health and fitness, starting with basic cardio routines, then to swimming, running, cycling, and weight lifting. I’m proud to say that within a year I lost over 85 lbs. thanks to my hard work and determination.
Basically, I’m what you’d call a hopeless gym rat. Fitness is my hobby, my therapy, my passion, and now my career. I hope to instill the same passion for fitness in you!
Born and raised in Tennessee, I’ve always been very active and into sports. During high school and college I also developed a passion for strength and core training, with a dash of cardio for good measure. After one day finding myself in a fitness group class, I was hooked! Although I still lift weights every other day, I’ve learned that the best overall fitness comes from variety in exercise.
From that first class my journey to achieve several certifications in fitness training began, including:
YMCA Group Fitness, Group Fitness (AFAA), Barre (Xtend Barre and Barre Above), Les Mills BodyFlow, Power Pilates Mat I, RYT 200 (Yoga Alliance), Beachbody PiYo, Strala Yoga, TRX (STC and GSTC) and ASHI CPR, Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen.
Most importantly, my goal is to have fun. Come join us in a group fitness class and see for yourself what a great (and healthy) time you could be having!
I’ve been passionate about health and fitness for most of my life. In 2011, I graduated from Southern Illinois University with a degree in knesiology. I find that having the opportunity to help others is really fulfilling, so when I received the invitation to re-locate to Nashville to do just that, I jumped at the chance.
Nashville is such a great city with wonderful, health-conscious people, and I’m super-excited to be able to be able to assist others with their fitness goals.
